In-Situ Multi-Scale Detecting Equipment

Our group develop an in-situ multi-scale detecting equipment for investigating the physical problems during polymer film processing, which consists of vertical SAXS, WAXS, QCLs, SALS and biaxial stretching machine. The V-SAXS comprises of a steel-tower frame of 9 m high and a basement of 3 m deep to install and support six independent subsystems: x-ray source, collimation system, sample zone, vacuum pipe (scattering beam path), x-ray detector, and driving unit for installation. The maximum detect scale of SAXS is 431 nm which can be adjusted by changing the vacuum tube with different length. The QCLs is an optical system with QCLs, PEM, detector and data acquisition system. It can be applied in orientation detection with a 20μs time resolution. The q range can be reached by SALS is 0.1 nm-10.6 μm-1. What’s more, the biaxial stretching machine can be operated by several mode: uniaxial stretching, constrained uniaxial stretching, simultaneous biaxial stretching and sequential biaxial stretching. The highest temperature that the biaxial stretching machine can be reached is 250 °C. This equipment can be applied in almost all polymer films stretching which can help us get the structure of polymer films from 0.1 nm to 10 μm.
